A new documentary called About Face will be making an appearance at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and featuring models of a certain age such as Jerry Hall, Isabella Rosellini, Marisa Berenson, Carmen Dell-Orefice and Paulina Porizkova speaking candidly about the expectations of the industry and the experience of aging as a model. The trailer offers a lot of food for thought; many people assume that models lead a charmed life, privileged and protected by their physical appearance. However, Paulina Porizkova tells it differently: “Modeling doesn’t have anything to do with self-confidence. Working off your looks makes you the opposite of self-confident.”
If you’re attending this year’s Sundance Festival, you can catch About Face there in January. Otherwise, look for it to air on HBO this summer.
