Jean Patchett, A Vintage Fashion Pearl

The 80′s supermodels knew how to strut their stuff on the runways, and todays fashion waifs have a wide-eyed, pouty charm. But does anyone know how to work a look like Jean Patchett did? If you’re new to the resumé of this… uber-model?… you’re in for a treat.

The picture at left was used to create one of the most iconic fashion images in history: a January 1950 cover of Vogue which communicated elegance, mystery, minimalism and hautiness in a ravishing cocktail of je ne sais quoi that made it indelible. Hungry for more high-fashion glam, nipped waists and 1950′s pearls? Enjoy some community-curated images of the beautiful and talented Ms. Patchett on Pinterest!

New Mad Men Collection is Available!

We’re big fans of the uber-stylish AMC drama Mad Men, and we’re so excited to see what the capsule collection by Banana Republic has to offer this spring in honor of its new season. Instead of the somber tweeds and subdued florals of last year (we blogged about the fall Mad Men collection) they’re going for pops of bright color in crops and sheaths, bold patterns in cardigans and bags with lady-like glamour. The Joan Dress should be of particular interest to all those ladies looking to channel Joan’s particular brand of unshakeable va-va-voom. Pair these looks with Banana Republic’s gleaming baubles or a single strand of pearls and you’re ready for your close-up.
